NRTL or “Nationally-Recognized Testing Laboratory” is a 3rd party authority responsible for conducting testing, evaluation, audit and certification of products falling under the applicability of NRTL certification. This is more commonly called as “UL certification” in many places. However, UL is 1 of several NRTL’s. The NRTL program was created by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the US to ensure workplace health and safety by certifying equipment. OSHA has a list of accredited and recognized NRTLs and this list can be accessed from the OSHA website.
